TEST YOURSELF

Testing yourself regularly is a simple and effective method for detecting testicular cancer at an early stage. Survival rates range from as high as as 99 percent in Stage I to as low as 50 percent in testicular cancer’s final stage, Stage III. As means for early detection, all men should complete a monthly self-examination as described below.

Step 1:
The best time to perform a self exam is during or after a shower.
• Use both hands to perform the test
• Position your hands with your palms up, supporting your testicles
• Roll each testicle gently between your forefinger and thumb

Step 2:
Look for any type of:

• Enlargement or growth
• Loss in size
• Heaviness
• Pain or discomfort
• Change in firmness or size
• Collection of fluid in the scrotum
• Dull ache in the abdomen or groin

Step 3:
• If you do not find any symptoms, simply test yourself again in a month.

• If you do notice any of these symptoms or abnormalities, visit your doctor immediately. Remember, only your doctor can make an accurate diagnosis.
